InterCall ® is the largest conference call provider around the globe.  They offer a number of conference call solutions including video conferencing, web conferencing and audio conferencing for businesses.  The company began in 1991 and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.  It is a subsidiary of West Corporation.  It has a strong US presence with 5 call centers and 26 sales offices, but also has expanded abroad by having offices in the UK, Japan, India, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, France, Australia, and New Zealand.  The company promotes these services through the website, intercall.com. 

Intercall ® has also received a number of awards including the presitigious Frost & Sullivan’s 2007 North America Conferencing Provider of the Year award.  This was given because of Intercall’s excellent performance in the conferencing industry.

Product Description 

The company has a wide array of services ranging from audio, video, and web conferencing.  In addition, it offers communications tools and technology help in the form of equipment and extra services.  Plus, they offer support staff designed to help determine what the best service options are for your business.   

However, our focus will be on web conferencing solutions.  In this area, InterCall offers eight different services.  These include Intercall Unified Meeting®, Intercall Web Meeting®, Microsoft Office Live Meeting®, IBM LotusLive: Meetings®, Meeting Center®, Event Center™, Support Center®, and Training Center®.   The first five are basic services and the last three were extra services. 

Intercall Unified Meeting®- This basic service allows you to set up meeting quickly and easily.  A desktop icon is added to your service that allows you to simply click on it to dial you into meetings and the service allows you to conduct online meetings, give powerpoint presentations, etc.   

Intercall Web Meeting®- its main area of distinction is offering a collaboration tool that allows people to share tools used by work teams.  It is ideal for giving presentations and company wide announcements. 

Meeting Center™- is their best collaborative offering.  It allows desktop sharing and other sharing services. 

Inter call’s offerings work with Microsoft Outlook®, Lotus® and other common mail services and options.  It currently has partnerships with Microsoft® and WebEx®. 

Benefits

Drawbacks 

• Complex pricing model for extra costs will more often than not lead to higher prices. 
• Most offerings appear to be geared more towards larger businesses.  Small businesses will likely prefer more scaled down service offerings.

Personal Review 

Inter call ® is a company that offers high level web conferencing options.  For many large businesses, it will be at the top of their lists.  However, for many mid sized and smaller businesses, its services and product offering will be less advantageous.  For this reason, I would recommend other offerings first.  However, if you want to visit the website, you can do so at www.intercall.com.
